Parker's 2nd week at home

Things are still going well on this end. We had a few firsts today- Parker's belly button fell off last night in the middle of the night, then we went on our first outing (to Target for baby stuff mostly!), then I called the pediatrician's office because his belly button had a little discharge in it. They wanted to see him and when we got there they said he had an umbilical granuloma and they had to cauterize it with sliver nitrate. Didn't seem to bother him too much- he of course cried but I think it was because he was naked and cold not because it bothered him. He also weighed in at 6lb 15oz. Not quite 7lb yet!! But- good news is he's gaining well which makes Mommy feel good as well! He's eating well and still seems to be a bit confused with day/night but is starting to stay awake longer during the day. He's such a sweetheart!

I know I said it before-how he's a miracle from above. Little did I know how much of a miracle he really is! I researched "Vasa Previa" which is what they told me I had (why I was hemorrhaging so much when I went into labor) and the mortality rates for fetuses are between 30-100% and/or 50-100% when this condition occurs! WOW- thankfully I didn't know that at the time. The mortality rate is so high because the Mom hemorrhages so much the baby loses blood as well and can then be stillborn. THANK GOD they acted quickly and Parker is healthy and thriving. Evidently when they know ahead of time that you have this condition they hospitalize you in the 3rd trimester and then deliver the baby around 34-35 weeks by c-section to avoid what happened to Parker and I.

Here are a few more pictures we've taken of Parker. We try to get something new of him every day but seems most of the pics we're taking are of him sleeping!

Trying out the swing- we've decided he's a little small for it!!

Sitting in the bouncer- look at that wrinkly forehead! Isn't it great!

Relaxing with Daddy after dinner
Love this yawn and that hat!!!
